It’s true, Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid. The team has just announced the signing of French forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The 25-year-old, who became PSG’s record goalscorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances, has agreed to a five-year contract with the Spanish giants. The deal is worth £12.8 million a year after tax, and Mbappe will also receive a substantial signing-on bonus of over £85 million.

If coach Carlo Ancelotti sticks with a 4-4-2 formation next season, Mbappe is likely to partner with Vinicius Jr. in a two-pronged attack, similar to the Vinicius-Rodrygo pairing this season.
Vinicius has made the left-hand side his own, while Rodrygo has shown flexibility by playing on the right, left, or as a No. 10.
Another option could be a 4-3-3 setup, with Mbappe in the center and Vinicius and Rodrygo on the wings.
However, this would require sacrificing a midfielder, a tough decision given Real Madrid’s depth in that area. Ultimately, it will totally depend on what Ancelotti wants to do, tactically.

Real Madrid have long been admirers of Mbappe and have made several attempts to sign him over the years. Real Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe has been a long saga, with the club first trying to sign him when he was 11 years old. Having come close several times, PSG managed to get a hold of their star player until now.
In 2017, Real Madrid made a serious attempt to sign Mbappe from Monaco, but PSG swooped in and secured the deal.
Over the years, the saga continued, with Real Madrid making several efforts to bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu. In 2022, Mbappe seemed destined for Real Madrid but chose to stay in Paris, leaving many Madrid fans disappointed.
However, this summer, Mbappe decided not to activate a one-year extension in his PSG contract, allowing him to move for free. This decision has freed up at least €220 million (£187.5 million) of gross cost to PSG, marking a significant financial shift for the French club.
