NJ Betting On Car Jit-Su: Yes, It’s a Real Sport

NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement Gives Sport Green Light For Betting

If you miss the days of betting Russian face slapping during the pandemic or look forward to wagering on Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest every July, you might be in luck. If you happen to live in New Jersey, you’ll soon be able to bet on Car Jit-Su. As the name implies, it’s basically a Jujutsu match held inside a car.

There are three rounds, with the fighters starting the first two rounds in the front seats. If there is no winner, a third round is held and it starts in the backseat. Fighters are allowed to use anything inside the car, so seat belt chokes are perfectly legal. NJ betting on Car Jit-Su was approved and the promoters of the sports are hoping to see it take off elsewhere.

Pro League Network is the organization in charge of the sport. PLN also has SlapFIGHT Championship and the World Putting League, which is professional putt-putt golf. Those two sports have also been approved for betting in some states.

With NJ betting on Car Jit-Su given the green light, PLN is hopeful it will help the sport’s popularity. It has a growing presence on social media and has been taking place close to a year. PLN has relationships with the top online sportsbooks, such as DraftKings and MGMBet.

Being able to place a wager on one of the best sports betting apps will help the sport attract some new followers. Sports bettors have shown they’re not particularly choosy when it comes to what sport to wager on.

New Jersey Selected For a Reason

PLN co-founder Bill Yucatonis told ESPN that New Jersey was selected to be the first state for Car Jit-Su betting for a reason.

“We wanted to stand it up there first, and we felt if we could meet all the expectations and requirements in New Jersey, it gave us a flight path for other parts of the country,” he said.

Pro League Network may operate several sports leagues, but it’s a betting company at heart. PLN makes no bones about its primary purpose.

The company website states, “We are a sports wagering company at our roots… PLN readies and monitors each sport for wagering, as well as produces, distributes and monetizes each sport through wagering, sponsorship and affiliate.”

PLN says having several different leagues that can be wagered on is a big advantage. The company also tries to hold events during slow sports times. People are more likely to wager on a Car Jit-Su match when there isn’t much else taking place. Few people will tune into Car Jit-Su or SlapFIGHT Championship on a Sunday during football season. They may watch on a Tuesday night in August when MLB is the only other game in town.

NJ betting on Car Jit-Su is definitely something different. The individual online sportsbooks will likely have their own betting limits. It’s hard to set betting limits being terribly high, but it could be a fun way to spend some time when the traditional sports betting calendar is dark.
