🥊Estrada Racking Up Wins

It’s tough to overlook a boxer with 44 wins on his record and Mexican fighter Estrada brings a wealth of experience. The WBC Super Flyweight champion won the vacant title when beating Roman Gonzalez in 2022, but having over 18 months off could count against him.

His lack of boxing activity is a worry, especially given how tough it will be to beat Rodriguez on Saturday.

  • If he had a busier boxing schedule, we don’t think he would be the +350 underdog to defend his title. He would be around +300, but he’ll likely be rusty for this fight.

The 34-year-old, however, brings a lot of experience with 47 fights. He owns 28 wins by knockout, and he has never been knocked out from his three losses.

As reported in the latest boxing news, Estrada backs himself to beat the best.

“I consider myself a complete boxer. I can go out, I can pressure, and I can box,” Estrada said. “I don’t think Bam is going to have it easy. “I think Bam Rodriguez has to be willing to die because I’m willing to give it all up in the ring, and this is one fight I’m not willing to let go. If it goes the distance, which I doubt, it will be the fight of the year.”

His two wins over Gonzalez came by split decision and majority decision. They weren’t convincing victories, but he knows how to win, so the Estrada vs Rodriguez odds can’t be overlooked.

🥊Rodriguez: A True Professional

The future is bright for IBF and WBO champion Rodriguez, who forced Sunny Edwards to retire in the ninth round last year. He defended his WBO and won the IBF title in that fight, and he was winning on all three judges’ scorecards before the fight was stopped.

The 24-year-old American is a perfect 19-0, including wins over Cristian Hernandez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (Wisaksil Wangek), who had 50 wins on his record at the time. He scored an eight-round TKO against Rungvisai, so that form checks out, and Rodriguez is the top-ranked fighter in the division for a reason.

Rodriguez has the world at his feet, and if he wins a third belt against Estrada, he might look to change weight divisions in the search for more titles.

  • However, this will be his toughest challenge to date. He is fighting a current champion, and being the -475 favorite with Estrada vs Rodriguez odds comes with added pressure.

“This is definitely the biggest fight, the biggest opportunity of my career,” Rodriguez said. “I’ve never faced a fighter like Estrada, so I’m coming more than ready for this fight.”

It’s his biggest fight but he has fought for the title in his last five fights. He knows what it takes to win and defend his title, including on big cards in Las Vegas.

  • Most of the money has come for Rodriguez to win by decision at +110. He has plenty of power, but because of the level of his opponent, he’s not expected to knock out Estrada, which is a fair assumption.
  • Bettors get +160 for Rodriguez to win by knockout, so at least the odds are worth snapping up if you think Rodriguez will make a statement.

🥊Rodriguez to Claim Third Title

It won’t be an easy fight, but we are backing Rodriguez to win by decision. He has a big work rate, which often sees him win rounds, and that should be his tactic against a tricky fighter in Estrada. The rising star of the sport, who could become a household name later in 2024, has much bigger fights in his future, and he should get past the experienced Estrada.

There is no doubt it’s his toughest fight, but with Estrada having not fought since 2022, and being the much older fighter, he plays against the current champion.

  • Take the +110 for Rodriguez to get his hand raised with a decision, which is much better than the -475 money line odds.
