British Columbia Aims to Keep Winnipeg Down
The first two weeks of the 2024 Canadian Football League are in the books. There have been a few surprises already this season, which sees four undefeated teams and three winless teams. Just two teams have started out the year with 1-1 records. Winnipeg starting out the year 0-2 is one of the surprises of the year. The Blue Bombers were the Grey Cup favorite last year and have yet to recover from being upset in the title game. Saskatchewan being undefeated wasn’t really expected, but the Roughriders have done what they needed to do. All in all, it’s not a bad week of CFL games, and we’ll look at the 2024 CFL Week 3 odds and the week’s four games.
Redblacks vs Alouettes

The 2024 CFL odds have Montreal favored by 6.5 points with a total of 47.5. Ottawa pulled off the upset last week against Winnipeg and now takes to the road. The CFL standings show Montreal 2-0 on the season already. This is a game the Alouettes can’t look past, even with Toronto looming next week. If the Alouettes come ready to play, the defense should be able to slow down Dru Brown and the Ottawa passing game. The Redblacks turned a lot of short passes into big gains last week, which is something Montreal has to defend against. Montreal could be a popular play in this game, but the Alouettes look to be on the right side.
Lions vs Blue Bombers

The 2024 CFL Week 3 odds have winless Winnipeg -2 over British Columbia, which has split its first two games of the season. The total on the game is 51.5. The Bombers have had the Lions’ number the past couple of seasons, which has loomed big in the West Division. On the surface, it looks like this may be British Columbia’s best chance to earn a win at Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers had their chances last week against Ottawa but came up just short. Until the Lions prove they can beat Winnipeg, the Blue Bombers are the side to back in this game.
Elks vs Argonauts

The CFL scores show Edmonton is 0-2 on the season, although the Elks really haven’t played that bad. It’s a question of learning how to win the close games and Edmonton hasn’t done that yet. The Elks have lost by eight and by three points, going 1-1 against the point spread. Toronto looked good in its opening-week win over the Lions and had an early bye last week. As long as the Argonauts aren’t caught peeking ahead to next week’s game with Montreal, they should be able to cover the 6-point spread in this game. The total of 50 might be a point on the high side, but it’s pretty close to where it should be. The Argos get the call in this one.
Tiger-Cats vs Roughriders

A quick rematch between these two, and they’ll be hard-pressed to match last week’s 33-30 Saskatchewan victory. Hamilton had the game in hand, leading 20-7 at halftime, but were outscored 16-3 in the fourth quarter. The ‘Riders kicked a field goal on the final play of the game to steal the victory. The 2024 CFL Week 3 odds have the Roughriders -2.5 with a total of 50.5. The spread looks to be a shade low, considering Saskatchewan is 2-0 and Hamilton is 0-2. The oddsmakers typically know what they’re doing in the CFL, however, and you can make a fair case for Bo Levi Mitchell and the Tiger-Cats in this game.
