England’s Attacking Talent at All-Time High

2024 Euro Group C Odds: England, Denmark, Serbia and Slovenia

Slovenia Make First Euro Appearance Since 2000

England have been knocking on the door of a first major trophy since 1966 for years now but have fallen short time and time again. That has made bettors wary of the Three Lions but their attacking talent is undeniable heading into Euro 2024.

England are in Group C for this Summer’s tournament, along with Euro 2020 Semifinalists Denmark, Serbia and Slovenia, who are making their first appearance since 2000. With England the clear favorites to win the group, we’ll take a closer look at the 2024 Euro Group C odds.

Now or Never for England

England led Italy 1-0 on home soil in the Euro 2020 Final. However, Gareth Southgate’s tactics and the ghosts of tournaments past came back to haunt England.

The Three Lions conceded and lost in penalties, extending their trophy drought to nearly 60 years. It seems to be now or never for Southgate and England. Heading into Euro 2024, they’ve got plenty of attacking talents at the top of their game.

Midfielder Jude Bellingham won La Liga’s Player of the Year and scored 19 goals in the process. Phil Foden reached that tally in the Premier League and also was the EPL’s Player of the Season.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane had the most prolific Bundesliga debut season in history and Bukayo Saka has been a key player for a dominant Arsenal team.

Many will feel that Southgate finally got his team selection right, as he left out previous favorites Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips and Marcus Rashford. The big concerns are in defense.

Center backs Harry Maguire and John Stones have both struggled with injuries this season. Meanwhile, Southgate will likely have to play a right back at left back with Luke Shaw not fully fit.

While the Three Lions have the potential to win the tournament, there’s also the potential for things to go wrong. Still, England finished on top of the Group C UEFA Euro standings for qualifiers and are -250 favorites to win the group. Southgate’s side also come in at +2500 odds to finish at the bottom of Group C.

Aging Denmark Past Best

In the Euro 2020 opener, star Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch due to cardiac arrest.

Denmark lost their first two UEFA Euro games of the tournament but managed to rattle off three straight wins to reach the Semifinals. There, they lost to England and have a shot at revenge in the Euro 2024 Group Stage.

In the years since, Eriksen has recovered and revived his career and Denmark may need him now more than ever. Denmark have plenty of defensive-minded midfielders but none that can unlock a defense the way Eriksen can with his passing.

He struggled with the pace of the Premier League this season at Manchester United but he can still be a key contributor internationally.

His United teammate Rasmus Hojlund is also an exciting young striker, who scored seven goals in qualifiers. Still, this Denmark team doesn’t exactly have the same potential as the one from 2020. Denmark failed to win a match at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has an aging roster.

Here, the 2024 Euro Group C odds list them at a +400 price to win the group and +800 to finish at the bottom of the group.

Serbia Have Proven Goalscorers

Like Denmark, Serbia also failed to win a match at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, there are some reasons to be excited about this Serbia squad.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic are two excellent strikers and even Luka Jovic had his moments for AC Milan this season. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Dusan Tadic are two experienced midfielders who provide balance to the side as well.

However, Serbia were wildly inconsistent in qualifiers and drew twice vs Bulgaria, who were winless. Serbia are a wildcard when trying to predict UEFA Euro brackets because their range of outcomes is so wide.

We could see them pulling off upsets and we could also see them finishing at the bottom of the group. At the moment, Serbia are priced at +800 odds to finish at the top of Group C and +150 odds to finish in last place.

Oblak and Sesko Key for Slovenia

Slovenia is the team with the fewest big names in Group C but everyone knows who Jan Oblak is. Oblak hasn’t had the best season with Atletico Madrid but the goalkeeper has been one of the best in the world over the last decade.

Benjamin Sesko has also started to make a name for himself in the Bundesliga as a fearsome striker.

The 6’5” RB Leipzig man who could be on the move this Summer ended the season with the Bundesliga’s longest scoring streak. Sesko scored in each of his last seven matches of the season and is one of the tournament’s most in-form strikers. Still, it’s unclear where Slovenia will get secondary scoring from.

Josip Ilicic has made a miraculous return to the international game and Andraz Sporar scored three goals and provided three assists in qualifiers. While they may be set on either end of the pitch, Slovenia could get bullied in midfield by the rest of the teams in the group.

Looking for their first-ever Euro win, Slovenia are +1000 long shots to win the group. Meanwhile, they’re the odds-on favorite to finish in last place, as the 2024 Euro Group C odds price them at -140 to do so.
