Germany were one of the most exciting sides in the group stage, with a high-octane offense. We’ll see if they can keep pouring in the goals as we make a Germany vs Denmark prediction later on and cover the odds.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Fullkrug Comes up Clutch for Germany

Late game heroics from Niclas Fullkrug last Sunday allowed Germany to draw level with Switzerland and finish in first place in the Group A UEFA Euro standings. Fullkrug headed in a cross from David Raum in the 92nd minute as the match finished 1-1. Earlier, Germany destroyed Scotland 5-1 and beat Hungary 2-0. Eight goals in three games is nothing to scoff at, especially since there were only seven goals scored in total in Group C.

Currently, Jamal Musiala and Fullkrug lead the team with two goals. Musiala’s impact as an attacking midfielder is hard to overstate. Meanwhile, Fullkrug has played his role as a super sub perfectly. The Borussia Dortmund man has 13 goals in just 19 appearances for Germany and is an aerial threat. The rest of Germany’s team is incredibly talented as well. Florian Wirtz just won the Bundesliga Player of the Season Award, Toni Kroos, and Toni Rudiger won the Champions League with Real Madrid and Ilkay Gundogan, Robert Andrich, Kai Havertz and Joshua Kimmich are all high-level players.

Unfortunately, Andrich’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jonathan Tah is suspended for this match due to yellow card accumulation. Some candidates to step in at center back are Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, and Robin Koch. Regardless, Germany are unbeaten this year in seven games under coach Julian Nagelsmann. Their fans are expecting a deep run and they’re one of the tournament favorites.

Denmark Lacking Final Third Creativity

Heading into this round of 16 clash against Germany, Denmark haven’t won any of their last seven games in major tournaments. They drew all three of their UEFA Euro games in the group stage. Denmark went up against Slovenia in their first match and went up 1-0 but conceded a late equalizer. The opposite scenario happened in Denmark’s second match when England got an early goal and Mortem Hjulmand equalized on a superb long-range strike.

Hjulmand, a Sporting CP midfielder, was Denmark’s best player in the group stage but he’s out suspended for this match. In the final match of the group stage, Denmark couldn’t find a breakthrough and drew 0-0 with Serbia. Denmark finished in second place in Group B, ahead of third-placed Slovenia because Denmark had fewer yellow cards.

Even though they’re a team full of solid players, Denmark lack game-changers and final third creativity. They’ll be hard to score on but they aren’t expected to light up the scoresheet. Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund has had an underwhelming tournament, as the striker hasn’t scored yet. Christian Eriksen, who scored in Denmark’s opening match may be their best hope for a big moment.

Germany vs Denmark Match Analysis & Odds

Germany kept at least 67 percent possession in all of their group stage matches. We expect that they’ll dominate possession once again and will have more opportunities in this match. Denmark’s defense, which has looked more than competent to this point, will face their biggest test yet. While Denmark lack talismans, Germany has no shortage of them.

The latest odds price hosts Germany as -320 favorites to advance to the Quarter-Finals and -165 to win in regular time. Meanwhile, Denmark are +500 underdogs and a draw at +285 (regular time). Denmark reached the Semifinals of Euro 2024 but we don’t think they have enough firepower to get back there.

We don’t doubt that Denmark are capable of keeping this one close and Denmark +1 sits at -130 odds. Meanwhile, Germany -1 comes in at +110. The over/under is set at 2.5 goals and none of Denmark’s matches have gone above that total so far. We suggest bettors not overthink this one, as our Germany vs Denmark prediction is to take Germany to win.
