2024 Indy 500 Props: Cross Race Bets Top List

Kyle Larson’s inclusion in this year’s Indianapolis 500 can only be viewed as a positive thing for IndyCar. One of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, Larson should attract some viewers to the Indy 500. Many will watch NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 later to see how he fares in both races. Kyle Larson is a popular figure in many of the 2024 Indy 500 props released by the sportsbooks so far.

The usual wagers are being offered, but Larson is prominent in the props. Some of the props deal with his finish in each of the two races.

The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest race on the IndyCar schedule. Both NASCAR and Formula 1 have other races that rival this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 or Monaco Grand Prix.

The same can’t be said for IndyCar, however, as the Indy 500 is the one race in the series many people will watch. The addition of Larson should help with that.

It’s certainly helped with the number of prop bets available for the race. Here are some of the wagers currently available for the Indianapolis 500.

Winning Team Bet

One of the 2024 Indy 500 prop bets that is up now is to choose the winning team. Team Penske is the logical favorite, although Arrow McLaren and Chip Gannasi Racing can’t be discounted.

• Team Penske +135

Will McLoughlin and Josef Newgarden are the two favorites to win the Indy 500 and Will Power is right behind those two. You can have all three as an entry with this wager.

• Arrow McLaren +230

The IndyCar results haven’t gone the way Arrow McLaren would like to see so far, but Pato O’Ward figures to be tough here and of course, Larson is running under the Arrow McLaren banner.

• Chip Ganassi Racing +500

Scott Dixon has won this IndyCar race before and Alex Palou is the current IndyCar points leader after finishing in the top five all four races. Neither can be discounted, although they have their work cut out.

Head-to-Head Matchups

• Helio Castroneves vs Ryan Hunter-Reay

One of the most interesting matchups, as veterans Helio Castroneves and Ryan Hunter-Reay are pitted against one another. Castroneves is -135 and Hunter-Reay is +105. Both have won here before, with Castroneves chasing win No. 5.

Hunter-Reay is competing part-time in IndyCar with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Both are considered long shots, but both are capable of getting into the top 10. Castroneves has the bigger team behind him.

• Will Power vs Pato O’Ward

A solid matchup here, with both drivers -115. Power is going off at lower IndyCar odds than O’Ward, so he’s the logical choice to take in this wager.

• Sting Ray Robb vs Pietro Fittipaldi

An interesting matchup between two of the great names in IndyCar. Neither is given much of a chance of winning, although that’s not the objective with this wager. You just need your driver to beat the other. Robb is going off at lower odds and is probably the safest wager of the two.

Kyle Larson Prop Bets

• Larson to Win Either Indianapolis 500 or Coca-Cola 600 +210

Larson appears to be more likely to win the NASCAR race than the Indianapolis 500, but he’s capable of winning either race. The IndyCar results show it’s not usually easy for drivers to come in from other series, but Larson is a special driver.

His qualifying shows that he can compete with the best of them in terms of sheer speed. His race craft will be lagging a bit in the 500, however.

• Larson to Finish Top 3 in the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 +600

Here, you don’t need Larson to win either race, but you need him to run pretty strong. It’s asking a lot from a driver to race 1,100 miles in a day and hoping for no serious setbacks.

• Larson to Win Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 +3500

Winning one of the two races is going to be difficult enough, let alone both of them. If anybody can do it, however, Larson is capable of pulling it off. The odds are pretty comparable to betting the two races separately, so it’s not the greatest of payouts.

• Larson to Win Coca-Cola 600 and Finish Top 3 in Indy 500 +1500

Of the 2024 Indy 500 props, this one has a little bit of promise. Larson is generally around +175 to finish in the top three at Indianapolis. With odds of +425 to win the NASCAR race, you’re getting a little bit of value.

• Larson to Win Indy 500 and Finish Top 3 in Coca-Cola 600 +1600

This one doesn’t have quite the same value, as Larson is +700 to win the Indy 500 and +140 to finish in the top three of the Coca-Cola 600.

• McLaughlin or Newgarden to win the Indy 500 and Denny Hamlin or Larson Win the Coca-Cola 600 +900

McLaughlin and Newgarden are the two favorites in the Indy 500 even though neither is near the top of the IndyCar standings. Larson and Hamlin are the two favorites to win the NASCAR race. The odds aren’t terrible and it’s a fun bet that could give bettors rooting interest all day long.
