Brewers vs Rockies MLB Odds: Milwaukee Big Favorites in Opener

Colorado Looks to Regroup After Losing Series to White Sox

  • Brewers likely sweep Rockies due to their strong pitching, hitting and record.
  • Underdog Rockies starter faces shaky Brewers pitcher on Monday – bet on fewer runs.
  • Expect high scoring games Tuesday and Wednesday with pitchers struggling on both teams.

Things are going to bad for the Colorado Rockies, they just dropped a series to the Chicago White Sox. Colorado has the worst record in the National League and it could be worse if not for avoiding the sweep at Chicago with Sunday’s 14-inning victory. Things aren’t going to get easier this week.

The NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers visit Coors Field for three games starting Monday. The Brewers vs Rockies MLB odds show Bryse Wilson and Milwaukee favored -164 over Austin Gomber and Colorado on Monday. The total on the game is 11.5-under (-120).

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The Brewers are cruising along with a 50-34 record and a 6.5-game lead in their division. The offense has done its job, with Milwaukee averaging 4.8 runs per game. Milwaukee is No. 5 in team batting average and No. 15 in home runs. The Brewers are finding ways to score.

Milwaukee’s pitching isn’t bad with the team ranking No. 9 in team ERA and converting 30 of 38 save opportunities. The relief pitching has been solid all season. The bullpen allows a few too many home runs, but is still one of the best in baseball.

Colorado isn’t that great of an offensive MLB team, which is a little surprising considering the team plays half its games at Coors Field. The Rockies are No. 15 in team batting average but in the bottom 10 when it comes to home runs. Colorado can sacrifice average for power, but that’s not the way the team is built.

The best thing you can say about Colorado’s pitching is that it’s consistent. The starters and the bullpen are both horrible. The Rockies are last in the league with a 5.65 ERA, and the bullpen has numbers that are just as poor.

Colorado pitchers have converted just 15 of 27 save opportunities. It’s no surprise the Rockies are doing so dismal in the MLB standings.

Monday’s Game

Wilson’s three worst starts of the MLB season have come during his last three starts, which has to be a little problematic for the Brewers.

After not allowing more than two runs in any of first six starts, Wilson has allowed 16 runs in his last three trips to the mound. He is coming off a stellar long relief appearance, although he’s been a bit better coming out of the bullpen than starting this season.

Colorado is just 5-10 when Gomber starts, although he’s been a better pitcher at home. Colorado is just 2-4 with him at home, where his ERA is 3.57 compared to 5.44 on the road. His last seven starts haven’t been that impressive, but six of those MLB games were on the road.

  • The Rockies are 2-4 in totals at home when Gomber starts and the number is pretty lofty for today’s game.

It makes sense to take a stab on the under for one your MLB best bets today and hope the trends hold up.

Tuesday’s Game

Dallas Keuchel is expected to get the start for the Brewers and it can’t get much worse than his first start. He allowed five runs in four innings against Texas. Keuchel has basically fallen off a cliff the last three-plus years and is nowhere near the pitcher he was just four or five years ago.

The Rockies will counter with Ryan Feltner, who has been nothing to get excited about himself. The Rockies are 5-11 when he starts and his ERA is 6.13. At home, his ERA is 7.68, but the Rockies have gone 3-4 when he starts.

The Brewers vs Rockies MLB odds will probably have the Brewers as small favorites, but you can’t bet Keuchel right now. The total is going to be huge in this game, but right now that’s about the only way you can go.

Wednesday’s Game

Colin Rea and Dakota Hudson are the scheduled starters for Wednesday’s finale. The Brewers vs Rockies MLB odds will have Milwaukee as huge favorites in this game.

Rea has been pretty solid this season and the Brewers are 9-4 when he starts. Rea has fared better at home and his ERA on the road is 5.40. Milwaukee is 3-3 with Rea on the mound away from home.

Hudson has been pretty good on the road, but just horrible at home. The Rockies are just 3-12 with Hudson on the mound and 1-7 when he starts at home, where his ERA is 8.58.

On the road Hudson has a 3.07 ERA, although the Rockies are just 2-5. It’s almost impossible to bet the Rockies with Hudson at home.

Rea’s overall numbers might help keep the total down, but the over should be one of your MLB picks today. With both pitchers struggling in today’s location, there could be plenty of offense coming from both teams.
