Stellar Pitching In Store For Twins-Mariners Series

Twins vs Mariners Runline: The Twins -1.5 Makes Sense In Game 3

This weekend, we’ve got a battle between two of the best American League teams in the MLB.

The Minnesota Twins will visit the Seattle Mariners in a massive heavyweight series. The Twins are 45-36 on the season, while the Mariners are currently 46-37.

Both teams have been terrific on the mound and are getting timely hits.

Although the Mariners haven’t announced a starter for Sunday’s game, the pitching matchups for the first two games are already looking fantastic.

That’s why tonight’s game between Bailey Ober of the Twins and Logan Gilbert of the Mariners currently has a total of 7. While the Over is juiced to -120, you rarely see a 7-number as a total. Meanwhile, the Mariners are slight favorites at -124.

We’ll check out the Twins vs Mariners runline and other odds for this weekend’s epic series.

Byron Buxton’s Hot Streak

It took Byron Buxton until June to get on a hot streak. But he’s finally at that point.

Buxton had been spending an hour before games trying to find his swing and overthinking everything. But once he discovered coffee, he only needed 15 minutes to prepare for a game! The other 45 minutes were spent drinking coffee!

We won’t question it. Buxton’s OPS was .639 on June 5, and it’s now at .760. Whatever works!

Woo On The Injured List Again

The Mariners have placed Bryan Woo on the MLB injured list again. This time, he has a low-level strain of his right hamstring.

Therefore, the Mariners haven’t announced a starter for Sunday’s MLB 2024 schedule. Had Woo been healthy, Sunday’s start would’ve been his.

Twins vs Mariners Runline & Other Odds For Game 1:

RL: Mariners -1.5 (+140) ML: Mariners -124, O/U: 7 -120/+100

⚾ Game 1 ⚾

Friday, 9:40 pm ET
Bailey Ober vs. Logan Gilbert

Minnesota will give Bailey Ober the ball to begin the series. Ober is a righty who has added 23.8% of strikeouts over the last month. He’s also limited walks to 6.6% and just had a phenomenal outing against the Oakland Athletics, where he went a full nine innings to earn a complete game.

Ober has added 18 strikeouts in his last 15.1 innings. However, each of his previous two games was against the Oakland Athletics. Take his stats with a grain of salt.

However, he’ll face a Mariners lineup that has struck out 28.4% of the time against righties over the last 30 days. The strikeouts should still continue against the Mariners if nothing else.

On the other hand, it’ll be Logan Gilbert for the Mariners. Gilbert has added 25% of strikeouts and has only walked 1.5% of batters over the last month. He’s allowed some power to righties throughout the season, but overall, he’s also allowed just a .253 wOBA. Even if Gilbert gives up some MLB team home runs, it’s usually with nobody on base.

Therefore, consider the Under 7 (+100) for tonight’s matchup.

⚾ Game 2 ⚾

Saturday, 10:10 pm ET
Pablo Lopez vs. Bryce Miller

In the second meeting, Pablo Lopez will be penciled into the start. Lopez has a 5.11 ERA on the season, but he’s still held batters to a .304 wOBA over the last month. In addition, Lopez has struck out 27.1% of batters in the previous 30 days and has limited walks to 7.6%.

He’s better than his ERA suggests.

Meanwhile, the Mariners will counter with Bryce Miller. Miller has struggled more against lefties, allowing a .183 ISO and wOBA of .353 to his last 65 lefties. He’s also added just 13.8% of strikeouts against lefties and has induced 31.4% of ground balls against lefties in the previous month.

The Twins should have four lefties in the lineup for this game. However, those four lefties have smacked a .191 ISO and wOBA of .354 against righties over the last 30 days.

We’d back the Twins on the road in Game 2 as one of our MLB best bets.

⚾ Game 3 ⚾

Sunday, 4:10 pm ET
Joe Ryan vs. TBD

We don’t know who Joe Ryan will face yet. However, Ryan is a righty who has allowed a .263 ISO and a .317 wOBA over the last 30 days. Ultimately, he’s held teams to a .281 wOBA this season. However, the ground balls are low, and the fly balls are high.

He’d be much better if Ryan could increase his strikeout rate a bit. That said, he’s facing a Mariners team that has struck out 28.4% of the time against righties over the last month. Ryan should stack up strikeouts against this Mariners lineup. That’ll help him push through in this start.

While we’re unsure who will start for Seattle on Sunday, it won’t be an elite pitcher. It’ll either be a bullpen game or a pitcher from Triple-A.

Therefore, we’d have the Twins advancing in Game 3 in a potential rubber match of the series. You can either consider the Twins vs Mariners runline with Minnesota depending on the starter for Seattle.
