Caitlin Clark and Fever Look for Redemption Against Sun

Fever vs Sun Betting Lines, Projections and More

The Fever vs Sun betting lines are in, and the Sun are heavy favorites at home with a spread of -12. They are -800 to win the game straight up and the Fever are +490 to get the upset. The total is set at 160.5.

The Sun are coming off their first loss of the season to the New York Liberty and will look to bounce back against a weaker opponent in the Fever. The Fever have gotten two of their three wins in their last three games and will aim to capitalize on their recent momentum.

The Sun are 9-1 and first in the WNBA and Eastern Conference standings. They are led by the dynamic play of Alyssa Thomas and scoring forward Dewanna Bonner. Thomas is averaging a near triple-double on the season with  12.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.6 assists. She leads the league in assists per game and is top five in rebounds per game. Bonner is top ten in scoring averaging 18.8 points per game, allowing Thomas to shine in a distributing role.

The Fever are 3-9 so far this season and are led by rookie Caitlin Clark. Clark, who was recently snubbed from the Team USA Olympic team, leads the team in points, assists, and steals in her much-anticipated rookie season. Clark is averaging 16.8 points, 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. Clark has been heavily scrutinized but has risen above the criticism in many ways. Clark has put up a total of 42 points in her first two games against the Sun this season but has struggled taking care of the ball, with 18 turnovers in those games.

With our Fever vs Sun betting lines, we are going to analyze these teams’ last matchups and recent games to see if the WNBA lines make sense and if we can make some WNBA predictions.

Indiana Fever (3-9) vs Connecticut Sun (9-1)

Date & Time: Monday, Jun 10, 2024 7:00 PM ET
Location: Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, CT

That One Was Close

Despite a valiant effort from rookie star Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever fell short to the Connecticut Sun 88-84 in their last matchup. Clark battled through an ankle injury and frustration to lead the Fever’s comeback attempt, scoring 17 points and dishing out five assists in the final quarter. However, the Sun’s Tyasha Harris stole the show with 13 points in the closing minutes, including the game-winning free throws with seconds left.

Despite Clark’s heroics, Indiana’s miscues proved costly. Clinging to a narrow lead late in the fourth, Clark’s frustration boiled over, resulting in a turnover and a technical foul. The Sun capitalized on this momentum swing, with Harris spearheading a decisive scoring run. Indiana had a final opportunity to tie the game, but Aliyah Boston’s layup attempt rimmed out, sealing their fate.

These teams’ first matchup this season was not as close, with the Sun dominating the game and winning 92-71. Clark scored 20 points in the game, on an inefficient 5-of-15 shooting. DeWanna Bonner led the Sun with 20 points on 8-of-14 from the field. The Sun also got solid contributions from Tyasha Harris and Dijonai Carrington in the game. They each scored 16 points. Alyssa Thomas put up a triple-double with 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.

Last Games

The Sun received their first loss of the season on Sunday in a 75-82 loss to the New York Liberty. Despite getting double-digit scoring nights from all six of their players with at least six minutes of playing time, they weren’t able to muster up enough offense to defeat the defending champions. The Liberty were led by Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones, who scored 24 and 22 points, respectively.

The Fever won their last game in a nail-biter against the Washington Mystics. Their 85-83 victory was their second win in their last three games, after a very slow start to the season. The Fever got a huge scoring night from rookie Caitlin Clark, who scored 30 points and added eight rebounds and six assists to the stat sheet. NaLyssa Smith also chipped in with a 10-point and 10 rebound double-double.

Big Spread Ahead

Fever vs Sun betting lines have the Sun as -12 point favorites to dominate at home. The Sun are -800 to win the game straight up and the Fever are +490. The total is set at 160.5.

The Sun have won the last ten meetings against the Fever, so the long moneyline numbers for the Fever make sense.  The Sun covered their first game, and the Fever covered their last matchup. The over/under has gone 1-1 in their last two matchups. This line makes sense with their past WNBA betting history.

The Fever are 5-7 against the spread so far this season and are 2-5 against the spread on the road. The Sun are 4-6 against the spread this season and 3-4 at home.
