Could Chelsea Gray Make Season Debut For Aces?

Aces vs Mercury WNBA Odds: Discounted Price For Aces

The Las Vegas Aces headed into the season looking for a three-peat. And while the roster is still star-studded, they’ve had difficulty winning recently. Still, the Aces vs Mercury WNBA odds have a 6.5-point spread in favor of Las Vegas (-6.5) as a key star can potentially return to the lineup.

The Aces are 5-5 overall and have lost four of their last five games. Las Vegas has also had two consecutive games where they allowed at least 96 points. While it’s too early in the season to panic, we might see a new champion when the year concludes.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Tonight, the Aces will take on the Phoenix Mercury on the road. The Mercury have won three of their last four games and have Brittney Griner back on the floor. That’s one of the best reinforcements you could ask for.

  • Still, despite the recent success, the Mercury are +6.5 (-108) at home with the total up to 170.

Aces vs Mercury WNBA Odds & Trends

Not only are the Aces 5-5 straight-up, but Las Vegas is also just 3-7 against the spread. Still, they’ve hit the Over in six of ten games this season. On the other hand, Phoenix is 7-5 against the spread but has hit the Under in seven of 12 games this year.

Phoenix and Las Vegas have already played head-to-head twice this season. Las Vegas won at home, 89-80, in the first meeting as 16.5-point favorites. However, the Aces lost a week later at home, 98-88, as 13.5-point favorites.

Both matchups went over the total.

Three Losses In A Row For The First Time Since 2019

The Las Vegas Aces hadn’t lost three games in a row since 2019 until Tuesday.

A’ja Wilson exclaimed that it’s still a long season and that the Aces won’t press the panic button. Ultimately, this roster has four USA Olympic players.

However, Chelsea Gray has been injured since last year’s WNBA Finals, and Jackie Young is dealing with an illness. Young played against the Lynx last time out, but she didn’t look 100%.

While the Aces are getting good minutes from their WNBA draft 2024 class, a healthy Gray and Young will be much more beneficial.

Brittney Griner’s Return

  • The Phoenix Mercury are 2-0 with Brittney Griner back in the lineup. It’s no coincidence. Griner has scored 17.5 points per game with 6.5 rebounds and three assists on a minutes restriction.

Griner will get all the necessary minutes as the season drags on, which will only help the Mercury moving forward.

Phoenix has an underrated “Big 3” that doesn’t get talked about enough. Griner plays with Diana Taurasi and Kahleah Copper, who are also headed to the Olympics for Team USA.

This team can do big things as long as it keeps fighting. With Griner playing, the Phoenix odds continue to go up to win the WNBA Championship.

Not Concerned With Las Vegas’ Offense

Las Vegas hasn’t had issues offensively. After all, this season, the Aces have added 1.8 net points per game and scored 85.7 points per game, which is third-best in the WNBA.

In addition, the Aces have added 84.2 possessions per 40 minutes. That’s also first in the WNBA. Beyond that, the Aces have added 101.7 points per 100 possessions and have shot nearly 34% from downtown and almost 48% from inside the arc.

  • Las Vegas has even shot 84.1% from the foul line, which is second-best in the league.

However, the Aces aren’t having much success on the offensive glass and only have an assisted shot rate of 66.2%.

On the other hand, the Mercury have still been inconsistent offensively to begin the year. Having Griner back is a plus. But they’ve added -4.1 net points per game and allowed the opposition 84.4 points per game.

Furthermore, the Mercury have shot only 40.3% from the field and have added just 45.8% from inside the arc this season. That’s a significant step back from Phoenix’s 50% from inside the arc last season.

You also won’t see Phoenix get to the line much. They’ve only added 18.4% of points from the foul line. Most of the Mercury’s points are coming from inside the arc. Yet, the Mercury have only added .86 points per play and have added 1.04 points per scoring attempt.

Even worse, the Mercury have an effective field goal percentage of 47.3%, which is 9th in the WNBA.

The last few losses had to be a wake-up call for the Aces. Young should be healthier heading into tonight’s game, and Chelsea Gray could make her return to the court for the Aces for the first time this season.

After looking through the Aces vs Mercury WNBA odds, let’s take the Aces’ discounted price of -6.5 (-108). The Aces will be one of three WNBA scores today that get the win.
