Beating on the Beaten

Allisha Gray scored 19 points, and Tina Charles added 17 points and 15 rebounds, leading the Atlanta Dream to a 73-67 victory over the winless Washington Mystics on Wednesday night.

Washington (0-7) is experiencing its worst start since 2007, having lost seven consecutive games.

Gray’s steal and fast-break layup extended Atlanta’s lead to 63-58 midway through the fourth quarter. Rhyne Howard contributed eight of her 11 points in the final quarter, including a critical one-footed jumper and two free throws to secure a nine-point lead.

Aerial Powers scored 12 points, and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus had 10 points and nine rebounds for Atlanta (3-2). Charles achieved a double-double by halftime with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Gray also scored 14 points in the first half, helping Atlanta to a 38-34 lead.

Coming Off a Good Win

A’ja Wilson dominated with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks as the Las Vegas Aces defeated the Minnesota Lynx 80-66 on Wednesday night. Jackie Young contributed 19 points and 10 assists for the Aces.

Wilson made history by becoming the first WNBA player to record 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in five consecutive regular-season games. Young was just shy of her fifth consecutive game with at least 20 points and six assists.

Las Vegas saw their nine-point halftime lead cut to 56-54 late in the third quarter before Kate Martin’s corner three-pointer and Wilson’s buzzer-beating layup restored a 62-56 advantage. The Aces extended their lead with a 20-5 run in the fourth quarter, making it 77-61.

Kelsey Plum added 10 points for Las Vegas, while Alysha Clark and Martin each scored nine. Minnesota (4-2) was led by Napheesa Collier’s 18 points and 13 rebounds, with Courtney Williams and Cecilia Zandalasini scoring 12 each, and Kayla McBride adding 11.

Vegas on the Road

Aces vs Dream betting lines have the Las Vegas Aces as -8 favorites on the road in Atlanta. They are favorites to win the game at -365 and the Atlanta Dream are +285 underdogs. The over/under total is set at 170.5.

The Aces WNBA record this season is 4-1 straight up, but only 2-3 against the spread. This is only their second away game of the season, but they covered in their one-road game so far this season. The Dream are 3-2 straight up, 2-3 against the spread. They are 0-2 against the spread at home.

The Aces are 3-2 on point totals so far this season and the Dream are 3-2 as well.

We like the Aces to come out strong on the road in this matchup. The eight-point spread isn’t quite large enough to scare us away from rolling with the Aces. They have won their last two games, and both by double digits.
