Sky vs Dream Betting Trends

The Chicago Sky is 6-11 against the spread, including just 1-7 over their last eight games. Chicago has been far more profitable for Over/Under bettors, going 9-8.

  • The Atlanta Dream, meanwhile, are 7-10 ATS, including only 2-7 at home. As for the Over/Under, Atlanta is 8-9.

Be sure to keep these betting trends in mind when making your Sky vs Dream predictions.

Reese Plays Starring Role

The Sky were largely expected to struggle, and the season’s first few months have been as difficult as advertised. They are just 6-11 following back-to-back losses to Las Vegas and Minnesota, one of four teams outside the playoff picture with the Olympic break just around the corner.

Six of their last seven losses have come by at least eight points, including Sunday’s 70-62 defeat to Minnesota. The Sky — 7-point underdogs — dropped to 2-9 ATS in June. That’s important to remember when making your Sky vs Dream predictions.

Not to go unnoticed amidst their struggles is the emergence of Angel Reese. The seventh overall pick in April’s draft, Reese notched her WNBA-record 10th consecutive double-double on Sunday, collecting 10 points and 16 rebounds. Former Sparks star Candace Parker held the previous record with nine straight in 2015.

Reese is the only rookie averaging a double-double (13.3 PPG, 11.4 RPG). No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark may still be favored to win Rookie of the Year, butReese is at least turning the race competitive.

Reese’s odds have improved from +4000 to +500 since the start of the season, making her the biggest mover on the board. She certainly stands to make it closer if this keeps up.

Reese had 13 points, 13 rebounds and five steals in her first game against Atlanta, an 89-80 loss on June 8.

Despite that, the Sky — projected for 12.5 wins — remain longshots to go anywhere.

  • They are +100 to make the playoffs and have the fourth-longest title odds (+20000) on the board.

Hanging by a Dream

The Dream have dropped four of their last five games, but the lone victory came Friday against Connecticut, 78-74. Unable to generate any momentum from that upset, the Dream lost 81-75 to New York two days later to fall to 7-10. Per WNBA scores, they are just 1-5 ATS over their last six home games per

Like Chicago, Atlanta is on the fringes of the playoff race, sitting seventh in the WNBA standings. Oddsmakers, however, see the Dream as a much better bet to qualify (-210).

Rhyne Howard, a two-time All-Star, has missed four straight games since injuring her ankle June 19 against Minnesota. The former No. 1 overall pick and 2022 Rookie of the Year was averaging 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals. Atlanta’s had to lean more on Allisha Gray and Tina Charles in her absence, during which its record is just 1-3.

Gray is averaging a team-high 15.6 points, while Charles leads the team with 8.8 rebounds per game.

Atlanta has covered in two straight games, but it’s just 2-7 ATS at home this season. That includes 1-3 as a favorite.

Projected for 17.5 wins, the Dream have seen their odds of winning the WNBA Finals drop to +12500.

Handicapping the Game

This is close to a pick ’em, as evidenced by the 1-point spread.

Atlanta is without Howard but has solid veteran leadership in Gray and Charles. The latter will be an especially difficult test for Reese, who has been on a roll over the last month.

Neither team has performed well for bettors, making this is a difficult pick.

Given the Dream’s struggles at home, we’re going to side with Reese and the Sky in this matchup of fringe playoff teams.
