The last time these two teams played was on Sunday, and it was an entertaining nail-biter. The Wings edged out the Sparks by one point, winning 84-83. Although the Wings put up 81 points, their defense wasn’t enough to overcome the powerful Vegas offense. The Aces put up a whopping 95 points in their win, led by All-Star and MVP favorite A’ja Wilson’s 36 points and 12 rebounds. Kelsey Plum also put up a 20-point effort in the win.
The Sparks also lost their third straight game Wednesday, and it was even more of a blowout than the Wings game. The Sparks lost 62-86 to the top seed in the West, Minnesota Lynx. This was the third win in a row for the Lynx.
The Sparks put up only 12 points in the first quarter and were not able to make back their early deficit. Only Hamby reached double-digit scoring for the Sparks, on a night when nobody seemed to be able to get it going. The team shot a terrible 26% from the field and only 14.3% from three-point land.
