A’ja Makes History

The Aces have won three of their last four games, including a 95-81 win against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. A’ja Wilson led the Aces with a season-high 36 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals. Wilson won WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week before the game, and her performance marked the first time a WNBA player scored over 35 points while recording over 10 rebounds and five steals.

The Aces took control of the game with a 13-point first-quarter lead but gave up some ground in the second. Eventually, they blew the game open with a 28-point third quarter, gaining a 14-point lead and never looking back. Wilson wasn’t the only Aces player with a big night against the Wings, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum also chipped in during the blowout win.

Young scored 19 points but stuffed the stat sheet by adding seven assists and six rebounds to her performance. Plum was the second-highest-scoring Aces player, putting in 20 points in the win.

Storming Up Wins

The Storm are currently on a five-game winning streak following their slow start to the season. They recently beat the Phoenix Mercury 80-62 on Tuesday, highlighted by a big game from Ezi Magbegor who recently signed a contract extension with the Storm.

Ezi Magbegor led the Storm’s offense, exploding for a career-high 13 points in the first quarter alone. Her shooting gave Seattle a strong start, building a lead as high as 21 points in the first half.

Despite missing key starter Nneka Ogwumike due to an eye injury, the Storm didn’t miss a beat. Skylar Diggins-Smith provided strong support with 17 points, while Jewell Loyd contributed a well-rounded performance of 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

The Phoenix Mercury, on the other hand, struggled offensively. Leading scorer Diana Taurasi, coming off a 31-point performance, was held to just 7 points and couldn’t find her rhythm from three-point range, missing all six attempts. The Mercury’s overall shooting woes continued as they finished a dismal 4 for 23 from beyond the arc. This win further solidifies the Storm’s dominance and exposes the inconsistency of the Mercury, who are struggling on the road this season.

Nneka Makes the Difference

Storm vs Aces betting WNBA odds are the Storm +8.5 with a total set at 167.5. The Seattle Storm are the +310 underdogs to win straight up and the Aces are -397 favorites. We think this line is too large, and that the Storm have a great shot at covering. They are riding a hot streak, and will likely be getting star Nneka Ogwumike back for the game.

The total has gone over in four of the Ace’s last six games, and three of the last five Storm games. That being said, we think this will be a high-intensity matchup between two contending teams and expect it to be a defensive battle. Look at the under.
