WNBA Season Check-In: MVP, ROY, & Championship Odds

WNBA Heats Up, As Does Awards Race

The WNBA season is fully underway, and we are going to take a look at where everything lies for the WNBA mid-season awards odds.

Although the league has seen the same champion for two years in a row, it seems as if there is some parody in the league, and we could see a new winner as soon as this year. The Las Vegas Aces have won the last two championships, and reached the Finals in three of the last four years.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

This year, the top of the WNBA is a bit more crowded, and the Aces are not looking as strong as years past. Currently there are three teams who are separating themselves from the rest in the standings, The Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty.

Can Someone Dethrone the Aces?

The Aces have fallen to fifth in the standings, and it looks like the Sun, Lynx and Liberty are all poised to take their throne. That being said, the oddsmakers are not worried by the Aces WNBA scores and lackluster start to the season. They still have them as the favorites to win it all this year. The current WNBA championship odds are as follows:

  • Las Vegas Aces +165
  • New York Liberty +165
  • Connecticut Sun +700
  • Minnesota Lynx +750
  • Seattle Storm +1000
  • Phoenix Mercury +2800
  • Atlanta Dream +8000
  • Dallas Wings +8500
  • Indiana Fever +10000
  • Chicago Sky +21000
  • Los Angeles Sparks +50000
  • Washington Mystics +50000

Accomplishing a three-peat is extremely difficult, even in a league with only twelve teams. Taking the longer odds of teams like the Connecticut Sun or the Minnesota Lynx to win it all this year could pay off big.

MVP Odds

This season the WNBA stars have been showing up big. All of the top contenders have multiple stars, and even some of the mid-tier and weaker teams have been getting incredible performances from their superstars. That being said, there is one player who has risen above the rest as this years most likely winner of the MVP award.

The current WNBA MVP odds are as follows:

  • A’ja Wilson -195
  • Alyssa Thomas +750
  • Napheesa Collier +800
  • Breanna Stewart +2500
  • Kahleah Copper +3000
  • Jonquel Jones +3800
  • Sabrina Ionescu +7000
  • Jewell Loyd +8500
  • Brittney Griner +8500
  • Nneka Ogwumike +8500

A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces is the heavy favorite to win the award and we totally understand why. Wilson is leading the lead in scoring with 27.9 points per game (Arike Ogunbowale is second with 24.9 points per game.) and leads the league in rebounds averaging 11.3 per game (Dearica Hamby is second with 10.7).

A’ja Wilson is also getting things done on the defensive end. Wilson is second in the league in blocks per game at 2.5 and is sixth in the league in steals per game with 1.8. The WNBA mid-season awards odds are leaning heavily for Wilson, and it is warranted.

Rookie of the Year Wrapped Up

The least exciting award for this WNBA season is the Rookie of the Year Award. From the start of the season Caitlin Clark has been the talk of the league, and her play has backed it up. She is averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game in her rookie campaign.

Although this years rookie class is stacked with talent like Cameron Brink (who recently tore her ACL) and Angel Reese, nobody has matched Clark’s play.

That is why the Rookie of the Year odds look like this:

  • Caitlin Clark -4000
  • Angel Reese+1400
  • Rickea Jackson +7500
  • Kamilla Cardoso +9500
  • Aliyah Edwards +12000
