Big East Betting Roundup: Providence vs Marquette Takes Top Billing
Ranked Teams Battle it Out on Wednesday

The Big East betting roundup doesn’t offer any marquee games this week. But there are several decent games, including a battle between ranked teams in Marquette. As good as that one is, it may not be the best game of the day. That distinction goes to Connecticut and Seton Hall. There are games nearly every day this week, so a strong schedule for fans and bettors alike.
Wednesday, Jan. 18
Connecticut (15-4) is favored by 4 on the road at Seton Hall (11-8) and the total is 135.5. The Pirates can come close to matching the Huskies on the defensive end but UConn has a significant edge offensively. UConn is rated No. 14 in adjusted offensive efficiency. Seton Hall is No. 113. A big part of the Pirates’ woes are due to turnovers, as Seton Hall turns it over more than 20% of the time. If the Pirates get the ball off, they don’t shoot that well. But Seton Hall is solid defending the 3-pointer, where UConn scores 34.5% of its points. If Seton Hall can slow down the Huskies from the outside, they may stick around here. The college basketball score predictions like this one to sneak under the total.
Providence Friars vs Marquette Warriors

Location: Fiserv Forum (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)

The NCAAB odds show Marquette (14-5) favored by 6 at home over Providence (14-4) in a game where the line looks a little high at first glance. Providence isn’t as good as Marquette offensively but it is a little better on the defensive end. Not to say the Friars are bad on offense, they’re ranked No. 23 in adjusted offensive efficiency. The Warriors have better stats against better competition but the Friars thrive on the offensive glass. Marquette is one of the worst teams around in preventing offensive rebounds. The Friars have the potential to be in this one at the very end.
Friday, Jan. 20
The Big East betting roundup has a decent Friday night game between Villanova and St. John’s at Madison Square Garden. St. John’s will be favored by about 5 points and the total will be about 150. Both teams are better offensively than defensively and Villanova is an average team when it comes to stopping people. The Red Storm score more than 60% of their points on 2-pointers and should have some success against Villanova. The Wildcats lead the nation in free throw percentage but getting to the line isn’t always easy on the road.
Saturday, Jan 21
The third day of the Big East betting roundup begins with DePaul visiting Providence in a game where the Friars will be close to 12.5-point favorites. The Friars are No. 7 in the country in offensive rebounds, while DePaul ranks No. 315 in preventing offensive rebounds. That doesn’t shape up well for the Blue Demons, who could be in for a long afternoon. DePaul is a decent 3-point shooting team but the Friars are a little better defending the 3-pointer than the 2-point shot. Providence at -14 or less looks like an above average wager.
Marquette Warriors vs Seton Hall Pirates
Date, Time & Streaming:
Location: Prudential Center (Newark, N.J.)
Streaming: CBS Sports Network
A solid game here, where the Warriors will be slim road favorites and the total will be about 143.5. The Warriors offense against Seton Hall’s defense will be entertaining to watch but the Pirates’ offense against Marquette’s defense will decide the game. Marquette can force turnovers and the Pirates make far too many. The Pirates don’t shoot well and Marquette’s biggest offensive strength is shooting the field goal. The Pirates are No. 84 defending the 2-pointer and No. 9 defending the 3-pointer. The Warriors will be tough to beat here and are worth a look at Marquette -3 or less.
Sunday, Jan. 22
The final day of the Big East betting roundup has a decent game between Butler and UConn, where the Huskies are going to be favored by close to 14 points. The total should be around 137.5. Butler could be catching the Huskies at a decent time, as UConn is coming off a tough game at Seton Hall. If the Huskies struggle in that one, the Bulldogs could benefit from a little bit of a letdown. The Bulldogs can play defense and are a little better than average on offense. Butler’s strength on defense is defending the 3-pointer, where Connecticut likes to shoot, so Butler +14 or more could be a worthwhile play in this spot.
