2024 NFL Cheat Sheet: Arizona Cardinals Stats & Odds

Projections on 2024 Arizona Cardinals Stats, Odds and More

Things continue to be bleak for the Arizona Cardinals and their 2024 Arizona Cardinals stats. Their NFL preseason schedule may allow them to pick up some momentum, but we aren’t expecting much from this team, which only won four games last season.

The Cardinals’ success will likely hinge on the return of a healthy Kyler Murray. Murray is entering his sixth NFL season and is coming off a recent ACL tear. He is finally healthy and can participate in a full training camp and preseason to prepare properly for the season.

Improvement is Needed,

The Arizona Cardinals are looking to improve on a disappointing season. The team was 4-13 last season, narrowly going under their preseason expected total of 4.5. They’ve actively bolstered their roster, addressing weaknesses and adding talent across the board.

The offensive line received a major upgrade with Paris Johnson Jr. moving to left tackle and free agent Jonah Williams anchoring the right side. The addition of rookie tackle Christian Jones adds further depth.

Kyler Murray will have a much-needed weapon in first-round wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (with the third shortest odds, +750,  to win AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year) , while the backfield gains depth and a different style with the addition of running back Trey Benson alongside James Conner.

Defense was the Cardinals’ biggest weakness in 2023. They addressed this partly by signing key starters like defensive tackles Justin Jones and Bilal Nichols, linebacker Mack Wilson Sr., and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting. Rookies Darius Robinson and Max Melton are also expected to make immediate contributions.

With a healthier Murray and a more balanced offense, the 2024 Arizona Cardinals stats are poised for a significant leap. While a playoff berth might be extremely unlikely, a 7-9 win season seems achievable. Although they only won four games last season they were more competitive than expected.

For Cardinals fans, anything less than six wins would be a disappointment. This year is crucial for the Cardinals. They’re laying the groundwork for future success, and 2024 is a stepping stone on their journey back to NFL relevance.

Super Bowl Odds: Might Have to Wait a Bit

There is no way the Arizona Cardinals win the Super Bowl. They don’t have the winning pedigree yet and for them the goal should be making the playoffs. Last season they were even less likely to win it, and oddsmakers had them at +40000 to win it all. This year the NFl predictions have them as slightly more likely, but at +800, hold onto your money.

Conference Odds: Closer but Still Far Away

The Cardinals should hope to compete for the NFC championship in a few years. Right now they are still building towards that as a long term goal, and they don’t have much of a shot of making noise in the conference this season. They started last season at +8000 to win the conference (double the +4000 they opened at this season), but by week eight that had shifted to +30000. Even if the Cardinals improve greatly from last season we expect a similar trajectory for their odds this season.

Division Odds: San Francisco Too Good

The Cardinals are looking at a long, uphill battle for the NFC West crown in 2024. Bookmakers aren’t giving them much hope, slapping a hefty +1100 price tag on their chances.

This stands in stark contrast to the San Francisco 49ers, who sit comfortably at -227, clear favorites to claim their third straight division title. The Cardinals haven’t won their division since 2015, and the 49ers, with real Super Bowl hopes won’t be giving them the opportunity this season. The Seahawks and Rams have better chances at upsetting the 49ers than the Cardinals do.

Regular Season Wins: Three More Wins Seems Unlikely

Depending on where you look you might get the Cardinals at 6.5 wins or 7.5 wins with the vig shifting from positive to negative for the over. Last season they were projected at 4.5 wins and they failed to reach that mark. The Cardinals have had just one winning season since 2015, and have gone under their win total in the last two seasons.

The two seasons before that they went over. They certainly could hit the seven win mark, but eight seems like a stretch. It all depends on if Kyler Murray can play at a Pro-Bowl level and if the Cardinals’ young pieces are ready to step up early and quickly.

To Make Playoffs: Not Going to Happen

Last year the Cardinals were +1000 to make the playoffs and this year they are +300. It didn’t happen last year and it is unlikely to happen this year.
