2024 NFL Passing Leader Odds: Mahomes Slight Favorite

Race For Most Passing Yards is Pretty Wide Open

The sportsbooks are releasing their numbers for the upcoming NFL season. One of the most interesting wagers from a betting perspective is the passing yards leader. There are several logical contenders and decent odds on everybody. Patrick Mahomes is the favorite and he’s at a decent +500.

Last year the top three passing leaders were separated by just over 100 yards, so it’s up for grabs. We’ll look at the top QBs in 2024 NFL passing leader odds.

2024 NFL Passing Yards Leader Odds

Patrick Mahomes +500

Mahomes is the prohibitive favorite and threw the third-highest number of passes last year. He didn’t have the same yards per completion as some of the other quarterbacks, so he was back in the pack a little bit. He ran away with the title in 2022 and was second to Tom Brady in 2021. There isn’t a whole lot of value on Mahomes as the favorite, but you can’t fault anybody who likes him in this spot.

CJ Stroud, Dak Prescott +600

Stroud and Prescott are both +600. The key for Stroud is staying in the line-up. He threw for 8.2 yards per attempt last season, which trailed just Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa. If he stays in the line-up, he’ll contend for the title. Prescott was third in passing yards last season.

Jared Goff, Tua Tagovailoa +800

These two went 1-2 last year, with Tagovailoa coming out on top by 49 yards over Goff. Goff attempted 45 more passes than Tagovailoa but didn’t have the average per completion. Both teams should be passing quite a bit again, so it’s possible to see one or both battling for the title at the end of the season.

Joe Burrow +850

The 2024 NFL passing leader odds have Burrow all by himself at +850. He’s not quite one of the favorites, but also not one of the longer shots on the board. Burrow missed a fair amount of time last season, although when he played his yards per attempt was just 6.3. It’s hard to play him in this spot.

Matthew Stafford, Kirk Cousins +1400

A couple of veteran quarterbacks are listed at 14/1 and both have questions entering the season. The Falcons paid Cousins a lot of money coming off an injury and then took Michael Penix Jr. early in the draft. The Rams were better last season, but it’s probably asking too much for Stafford to lead the league in passing yards.

Jordan Love +1600

Love had a solid season when he finally got his chance to shine in Green Bay. Love led the Packers to an impressive 11-8 record against the spread, which is good news for those using Green Bay in their NFL picks and parlays. He threw 32 TDs and 11 interceptions and was seventh in passing yards.

Josh Allen +1800

Allen was fourth in passing yards last season but doesn’t quite compare with the likes of Tagovailoa or Goff in completion percentage or yards per attempt. Buffalo didn’t have its best season, going 11-6, but were just 8-11 against the scores and odds NFL spreads. Allen’s 18 interceptions hurt his chances for more passing yards.

Aaron Rodgers +2200

The 2024 NFL passing leader odds have Rodgers at 22/1, which is probably a bit on the low side for somebody coming off a season-long injury. New York’s defense isn’t bad, which could affect the number of passes Rodgers throws. The Jets could find themselves trying to run time off the clock in some games. Seeing Rodgers go out with a big year would be nice. But it’s doubtful he’ll out-pass everybody else in the league.

Brock Purdy +2500

Purdy doesn’t throw the ball enough to be a solid contender to win the passing yards title. It’s not a knock against him, it’s the way the offense is designed. Purdy’s stats are impressive, he just isn’t going to get the same number of opportunities as some of the other quarterbacks.

Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence +2800

A pair of No. 1 overall NFL draft picks are tied at 28/1. Lawrence is more of a proven commodity and finished 608 yards behind Tua last season while battling some injuries. The Chicago Bears news is that Williams struggled a bit during the first few days of offseason team activities. He should turn out fine, but it’s a lot to ask for a rookie to put up huge numbers.

Justin Herbert, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray +4000

The 2024 NFL passing leader odds have four solid quarterbacks here if they can keep healthy. Watson, Herbert, and Murray all missed significant time last year, while Mayfield had a decent year at Tampa. Watson and Mayfield don’t play in explosive offenses. A healthy Herbert is a pretty solid quarterback and Murray has Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw to this season. Herbert offers the best value, followed by Murray, although they’re long shots for a reason.
