Mahomes Is the Player To Beat in the NFL Passing Yardage Odds

Mahomes, Stroud and Prescott Lead the Way In the 2024 Passing Leader Future Odds

Can Burrow and Rodgers Bounce Back After Injury-Shortened Seasons?

The 2023 NFL season saw 10 quarterbacks throw for more than 4000 yards during the regular season with five of those QBs 25 or younger. When it comes to the 2024 passing leader future odds, it could be more of the same in the upcoming season.

When it comes to numbers, it is hard to top the two Super Bowl titles in the last two seasons for Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. The opposing quarterback in the most recent Super Bowl was Brock Purdy and he led all qualifier quarterbacks with a passing rating of 113.0 last season.

Those who bet online and love showdowns of dynamic quarterbacks will be tuning in on the first game of the 2024 regular season when Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens travel to meet Mahomes and the Chiefs in a match of former MVPs. That could result in plenty of action when it comes to the NFL scores in Week 1.

  • When looking at the potential NFL bracket, every top title contender has a productive quarterback to call upon. Mahomes and Kansas City are at +550 in the odds of winning the Super Bowl followed by San Francisco (+650), Baltimore (+900), Detroit (+1200), Buffalo (+1400) and Cincinnati (+1400).

Mahomes Could Be Ready For Another Huge Season

In six seasons as the starting quarterback for the Chiefs, Mahomes has led the NFL in passing yards, twice led the league in touchdown passes, is a two-time MVP and a three-time Super Bowl champion. Keep that in mind when analyzing the 2024 passing leader future odds.

  • Even with questions about the availability of second-year receiver Rashee Rice due to off-the-field issues, Mahomes leads the way at +550 to lead the NFL in passing yards for the second time in the last three seasons.

Stroud had a brilliant rookie season and now the Houston Texans added Stefon Diggs in the offseason as the Texans continue to put together one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. He is tied with Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys at +600 in the 2024 passing leader future odds.

Jared Goff’s Expanded Options in Detroit’s Offense

Speaking of rosters with plenty of playmakers, the Detroit Lions continue to give Jared Goff options to throw to.

  • Detroit is one of the teams on the verge of a breakthrough and Goff could play a key role as he is at +700 when it comes to leading the league in passing yards. Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa is also listed at +700.
  • Next up are Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams and Kirk Cousins, who moved from the Minnesota Vikings to the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason. Both are priced at +1200.
  • Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers had a strong finish to his first season as a starting quarterback. He is at +1400 in the passing yards odds while Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is at +1600 as he tries to prove that there is life after Stefon Diggs.

A quick look at the NFL news today, San Francisco receiver Brandon Aiyuk said he wants to remain with the 49ers despite contract issues and that could aid Brock Purdy’s odds this season.

The Comeback Kids

Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets combined to miss 23 games a season ago. Both have proven to air it out in the past with talented pass catchers to work with.

  • Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals was limited to just eight games a season ago. Now he has rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw the ball to as he is at +4000 to lead the NFL in passing yards.

Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns has the same odds although he is a risky pick as he plays in a run-first offense. It will be interesting to monitor the 2024 passing leader future odds for them as the season goes along.

2024 Passing Leader Future Odds: A Look At the MVP Race

Quarterbacks have won the NFL Most Valuable Player award in 16 of the last 17 seasons with the lone exception coming in 2012 when Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings earned the honor.

It could be 17 out of 18 years as the top 17 players in the NFL MVP odds.

Mahomes leads the way at +500 as he looks to join Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers as the only players to win the MVP award at least three times.

  • Allen (+800), Burrow (+900), Stroud (+1000), Lamar Jackson (+1400), and Jordan Love (+1400) follow him in the MVP odds.
  • The first non-quarterback is San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey at +4000. McCaffrey has the shortest odds to be the NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

What About the Rookies?

With the top three picks and five of the first 10 selections in the 2024 NFL Draft being used on quarterbacks, there could be opportunities for recent college stars to follow in the footsteps of 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans by lighting it up as a rookie.

Caleb Williams was the top pick by the Chicago Bears. With Chicago acquiring veteran receivers DJ Moore and Keenan Allen in the last two years and using a top-10 pick on Rome Odunze, Williams could have a huge rookie season.

  • Williams is priced at +125 to be the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

His closest competitors for the award are Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels, who succeeded Williams as the Heisman Trophy winner after a huge final season at LSU, was the No. 2 overall pick by Washington.

  • Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Zach Ertz are among the players Daniels will be throwing to so he offers good value at +600 to be the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
  • Drake Maye, picked third overall by the New England Patriots, Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos and J.J. McCarthy are all at +1400 in the Offensive Rookie of the Year odds.
