Copa America Contenders Meet in Group Stage

Group D Finale: Brazil vs Colombia Betting Preview

Winner Clinches First Place in Group

Brazil and Colombia are two strong contenders for the Copa America title. While no one would be shocked if these teams met in a semifinal, or even final, they’re playing each other in the Group D finale. The winner of Tuesday’s match will clinch Group D, while the loser will likely have to face in-form Uruguay in a quarter-final match.

Colombia have been on a tear lately and have won their first two games to open up the tournament. Meanwhile, Brazil are 1-1-0 and haven’t technically qualified for the knockout stage yet. Ahead of the match, we’ll cover the latest Brazil vs Colombia betting odds and preview this blockbuster Copa America match.

Brazil vs Colombia Head-to-Head

In their 15th attempt, Colombia finally managed to defeat Brazil in a World Cup qualifier. Last November, Luis Diaz scored twice as Colombia picked up a historic 2-1 comeback victory over Brazil. The Brazil vs Colombia betting odds listed hosts Colombia as +230 pregame underdogs.

Colombia’s victory ended Brazil’s seven-game unbeaten streak in this fixture, in all competitions. Brazil has only lost two of its last 23 matches against Colombia but is 1-1-1 in the last three. Brazil and Colombia were also in the same group at Copa America 2021, and Brazil defeated Colombia 2-1.

Vini Jr. Powers Brazil to Big Win

Brazil got their first win by a multi-goal margin in 11 games on Friday when they beat Paraguay 4-1. Vinicius Junior scored two goals in one match for the first time in a Brazil shirt. Savio scored his first national team goal as well and Lucas Paqueta missed a first half penalty but scored on a second half spotkick. With the win, Brazil improved to 1-1-0 and second place in the Group D Copa America standings.

Plenty of questions have been asked about Brazil over the past year and they’re still valid but this was an important result for them. Brazil had one of the worst spells in team history when they lost three games in a row to close out 2023. Since then, they’re 3-3-0 and couldn’t find a breakthrough against Costa Rica in their Copa America opener.

That match finished scoreless but Brazil have conceded more than a goal per game in their 2024 games. On the flip side, they have scored three goals in three of their last four games.

Despite some up and down form, the outright Copa America odds price Brazil at +300 to win their 10th Copa America. Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay are all in better form than Brazil but we’ll wait and see if they’re able to build on the Paraguay victory.

Colombia on Longest Active Winning Streak

Colombia are on an absolute tear at the moment and it’s no exaggeration to say they’re the most in form team in the world. Heading into their final group stage match, Colombia have won 10 games in a row. That’s a team record and the longest active winning streak of any national team. So far, Colombia have passed two tests on their Copa America 2024 schedule with flying colors.

In their opening match, Colombia picked up a 2-1 win over Paraguay as James Rodriguez provided assists for Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma. On Friday, Colombia also took down Costa Rica 3-0 as Luis Diaz, Davinson Sanchez, and Jhon Cordoba got on the scoresheet. Rodriguez provided another assist for Cordoba and he leads Copa America with three assists at the moment.

Plus, Cordoba has three goals in just six appearances for the Colombia national team. Colombia haven’t lost any of their last 25 games, which spans over two years. However, they failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. As Colombia’s head coach, Nestor Lorenzo is 17-5-0 and Colombia are now ranked 12th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Lorenzo has often employed a 4-2-3-1 formation but he’s gone with a 4-3-3 over the last two matches and it seems to be working. With James on the right wing instead of midfield, Colombia are more defensively adept.

Brazil vs Colombia Match Analysis & Odds

Brazil, with four points through two games, likely need to win this one to avoid a match against Uruguay in the Quarter-Finals. The latest Brazil vs Colombia betting odds list Brazil as -125 favorites despite Colombia’s long winning streak and unbeaten run.

Colombia would certainly have qualms about being labeled underdogs. They’ve looked excellent under Lorenzo and will be looking to extend their winning streak to 11 matches. Here, Colombia are +350 underdogs despite defeating Brazil late last year.

A draw would ensure Colombia finish in first place in the group and most likely avoid a match against Uruguay. That potentiality sits at +267 odds and Brazil have drawn three of their last five matches, in all competitions.

Colombia +0.5 is priced at +102 odds at the moment and it’s not the worst pick given their recent play. Under 2.5 goals show -135 odds but both teams have been scoring a lot of goals lately.
