Mexico vs Jamaica Head-to-Head

Mexico are unbeaten over the last five meetings vs Jamaica. The Mexico vs Jamaica soccer odds priced El Tri as -160 favorites for their last meeting, when Mexico defeated Jamaica 3-0 in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. These sides also drew twice in the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League A.

Both teams have found the net in four of the last five meetings and Mexico have dominated the all-time results. All-time, Mexico are 20-5-3 vs Jamaica but the Reggae Boyz have avoided defeat in four of the last seven.

New Look Mexico Stumble into Copa America

Even though they were crowned the best team in North America last Summer at the Gold Cup, expectations aren’t high for the Mexico national football team this time around.

Their talent pool has been dwindling in recent years and results have suffered. In pre-tournament friendlies, El Tri beat Bolivia 1-0, lost 4-0 to Uruguay and fell 3-2 to Brazil.

Jaime Lozano also made the decision to leave out longtime goalie Memo Ochoa, along with forwards Hirving Lozano and Raul Jimenez.

Santiago Gimenez is now the main man up top but he’s scored just four times in 27 matches with Mexico. However, he’s been lighting it up in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord over the last couple of seasons.

Lozano made the decision not to call up any outfield players over the age of 30. This officially marks a new era for Mexico and it remains to be seen how they’ll perform on their Copa America schedule. Mexico take on Jamaica on Saturday, followed by matches vs Venezuela and Ecuador.

Jamaica Looking for First Copa America Goal

The Reggae Boyz of Jamaica haven’t been a consistent side but they have pulled off some impressive results in recent years.

They led the USA in the Nations League Semifinal for 95 minutes back in March before conceding an equalizer and later losing in extra time. Previously, Jamaica took down Canada in the Quarter-Finals and they managed to defeat Panama 1-0 in the Third Place match.

There are certainly some talented players on the roster even though Bailey won’t be playing. Ethan Pinnock, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Michail Antonio are other Premier League veterans. Shamar Nicholson has also found the net 19 times in 47 matches for the national team and is one to watch out for.

Nicholson scored three of Jamaica’s four goals in recent World Cup Qualifying wins vs Dominica and the Dominican Republic. Heading into the Copa America, Jamaica have lost just one of their last seven matches. However, they are 0-6 all-time at the Copa America and are yet to score a goal. In one of the most wide open Copa America groups, they’ll feel they can compete for the Knockout Stage.

Mexico vs Jamaica Match Analysis & Odds

Last time Mexico appeared at the Copa America, in 2016, they defeated Jamaica 2-0 in the Group Stage. Here, the Mexico vs Jamaica soccer odds list El Tri as -160 favorites and six of the last seven meetings have been decided by one goal or finished in draws.

Mexico will feel confident after last Summer’s 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the Gold Cup Semifinal. The young players on El Tri’s roster will be eager to impress and move forward into a new era.

  • Jamaica will look to spring an upset and they’re +460 underdogs for the Copa America Group B opener.

A draw comes in at +285 while the over/under is set at 2.25 goals. Notably, both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings.

  • Mexico -0.5, -1 is priced at -122 odds and they’d be disappointed not to come away with three points.
  • At the same time, punters can take Jamaica +0.5, +1 at -108.
